Measurement Techniques for Isolated Fields: Betel Leaf Gardens, GramaKhantams, and More

It is not possible to measure the area when there are betel leaf gardens, village khantams, shrubs, or a group of houses, etc ,. As there is difficulty of accessibility.Let us take a betel leaf garden as our example. ABCDEFGH is a betel leaf garden to be surveyed.Then we can find the area of that field as shown in the figure.
Measurement Technique of Betel Leaf Garden

Make a triangle XYZ, such that all the bends around the field are visible.Notice that the all field bends come into the triangle so that they are all visible to each other.

Now take offsets to all bends on XY, YZ & ZX straight lines. Ensure that all measurements are noted down.  Then we can find the area of XYZ  by following the formula.

S=√(S-A)²+..

We have the right angle triangles and the trapezium as shown in Fig. We find the area of the right angle triangle and the trapezium according to the area formula and subtract the areas of these parts from the total area of XYZ, so that we know the actual area of the betel leaf garden ABCDEFGH.
Another method is to form a rectangle around the field and take offsets to all bends on lines of rectangle as described above. We find the area of our field by subtracting the right angle triangle and trapezium area from the total rectangle area which we formed.
